John Dumelo will forever be my baby boo – Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson is professing her undying 'love' for actor John Dumelo barely a week after the two had a nasty rift on twitter.

The two, who were hitherto, very close, had a strained relationship due to their divergent views on the #dumsormuststop campaign.

John Dumelo last Friday took to twitter and reacted fiercely to an earlier tweet by Yvonne Nelson which suggested that he was an a**kisser.

The actor sent out ferocious tweets saying he was disappointed and hurt by a trusted friend’s insult in the full glare of the general public. Yvonne did not hesitate to respond in equal measure.

After what many had ruled as a disappointing end to a beautiful relationship – one many had wished would be more than just mere friendship – Yvonne appears to be trying to patch the wounds.

While hosting a show on YFM Monday, the actress downplayed the altercation.   

“I’m sure everyone knows John will forever be my baby boo, love, friend, best friend… charley I can go on and on. Chaley I love John oh, we were not fighting, it was just some little child’s play on social media. So, me and John we are good, don’t get worried and don’t get scared. He is an amazing guy, I don’t think he is in Ghana now. When he comes I know he is going to say all the nice things about me. Me and John we are homies, we are Fantes,” she said.

Yvonne Nelson, who recently led some celebrities and thousands of Ghanaians to hold a vigil in protest against the power crisis, popularly known as ‘Dumsor’, said she believed the event was the cause of their rift.

“It’s just the campaign or whatever that started this but...I think the ass kissing tweet wasn’t too bad for him to react that way because I normally tell him he feels like a hundred donkeys and hundred chickens and he is cool. We play like that and we have that relationship. It’s all political. I was surprised when I saw it and I was wondering, is John dreaming?

“I’m thinking there is so many girls around John telling him to do stuff because they are thinking we have a thing going on but come on John is my friend. But I know girls are happy this happened but we are homies. His girls are happy….I still have John’s pictures up on my instagram but people are in a hurry to judge because the thing about it is that I delete my Instagram pictures from time to time. That’s why I post a lot but I have few pictures on my timeline now,” the actress added.

Nigerian singer claims he facilitated Sarkodie’s collabo with Ace Hood

Nigeria-born American singer, Meaku has claimed credit for what has now become a controversial collaboration between Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie and his American counterpart, Ace Hood.

Meaku, whose real name Chibuike Franklyn Omeaku made the disclosure in a recent interview with Talk Media where he maintained he and Hemdee actually facilitated the collaboration between the duo.

Sarkodie had in an interview with Starr FM last week, claimed that Acehood made the first move by contacting him for the collaboration but the American rapper promptly took to Twitter and declared that the Ghanaian actually paid him $25,000 before the recording was made.

Shedding more light on the issue, Meaku said that the deal was brokered by himself and Hemdee.

“Currently, I am working in partnership with Hemdee Kiwanuka (son of Ugandan Superstar Singer, Halima Namakula, developing film, and reality TV shows, and selling them to major networks in the US.

“I am also a co-Founder of Direct African Network TV DAN TV, based in Los Angeles, California, that is under development and currently looking for content to air on the network. Also, I and Hemdee, facilitated the current collaboration between Ace Hood and Sarkodie.”

Dumsor demo: I’ve not stopped anyone from demonstrating - Nii Odoi Mensah

Former president of the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), Samuel Nii Odoi Mensah has denied stopping people from attending a planned demonstration in Kumasi against the power crisis.

The veteran actor said he rather suggested an alternative to the demonstrations. 

“I was of the opinion that there had been a lot of demonstrations but nobody has suggested any solution to the government so I suggested that we petition the government instead,” he said.

Mr. Samuel Nii Odoi Mensah was accused by Public Relations Officer and Welfare officer for the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Michael Kwaku Ola of trying to stop organizers of the ‘Dumso demonstration from going ahead with the event slated for Thursday May 28, 2015.

But refuting the accusation on Hitz Entertainment News with Doreen Avio, Mr. Odoi Mensah said, he was only trying to talk to the leaders to see if they would buy into his idea.

“I don't have the right to stop anyone from demonstrating. I'm a stake holder so I was suggesting to them that lets add this things to it so that we make it more authentic. I haven't done anything wrong,” he said.

Asked what he suggested to the leaders, he said, “there is an increase in fuel prices and most people are using generators and solar panel to run their businesses so I said we should...petition the government to reduce taxes on solar panels and generators and also reduce the price of fuel so that people can buy one of these things to use to support the national grid until they are able to fix the problem.”

Mr. Odoi Mensah said the incessant power outages is a national crisis which is experienced by everyone and believes that if these measures are put in place, it will also cushion Ghanaians to give the government time to finish its work of finding a lasting solution to the problem.

Yvonne Nelson premieres ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’

All roads lead to the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra on June 5 as popular actress Yvonne Nelson premieres her latest movie, If Tomorrow Never Comes.

The red carpet ceremony is expected to attract some of Ghana’s A-list celebrities and a large crowd as the actress is no stranger when it comes to gathering large numbers of movie enthusiasts.

The new movie tells an epic story of a young girl, Ewurabana, who was sold into slavery by her wicked uncle after her mother died leaving her and her kid brother in the village.

She went through all kinds of inhumane treatments at the hands of her handlers. There was even an attempt on her life, but she escaped to the city to hawk in the streets as her only means of survival.

A lot happened in the streets till a miracle eventually catapulted her into a powerful figure in society. She now narrates her sad story to the world.

It stars the leggy Yvonne Nelson, David Dontoh, Kweku Elliot, Khareemah Aguiar, Becca and a host of other popular faces in Ghana’s showbiz industry.

The movie was wrapped up some months ago and was shot in parts of Accra and a village called Aforkpa Kope near Senchi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Yvonne Nelson produced the movie and also acted in it. It is her first produced epic movie and there are high expectations awaiting the movie.
