Olivia Munn has joined the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, which is due for release next year.
Director Bryan Singer confirmed the news in a tweet saying she'll play the dual role of Betsy Braddock and Psylocke.
He said: "Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN."
Munn, 34, played Sloan Sabbith in The Newsroom and appeared in 2010's Iron Man 2 as Chess Roberts.
Psylocke made a brief appearance in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand as one of the villains following Magneto.
That part was played by US actress Mei Melançon.
The character
first appeared in Marvel UK series Captain Britain, who was her twin
brother, in 1976 and her powers have changed to include telepathy and
telekinesis, which she acquired from Jean Grey.
Last week it was confirmed that Ben Hardy, who used to play Peter Beale in EastEnders, will star as Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Other stars, including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Rose Byrne, have already been confirmed for the film.
It will also feature other British stars including James McAvoy, Sophie Turner and Nicholas Hoult.
Jennifer Lawrence says she won't be playing shape-shifting mutant Mystique any more in the X-Men prequels after Apocalypse.
The
Oscar-winning actress said she was giving up the role when asked by a
reporter at the premiere of her new movie, Serena, in March.
