Sow positive attributes into African children - Gena West

Award winning singer and songwriter Gena West has advised the leadership of African countries to sow positive attributes into their children.

She said African leadership should start investing more into the welfare and growth of African children because they hold the growth of the African continent.

“Our children are our future, so we need to sow into them the positive attributes that will help us reap continual growth on our continent, Africa,” she said.

Gena West made the statement at the TEDxAccra 2015 event themed “The Next Chapter” on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the auditorium of the National Theatre.

TEDxAccra is annual event, where "thinkers and doers of our community are gathered to create and share ideas". It seeks to develop and leverage the TED experience at a community level, bring together innovative thinkers to connect and discuss great ideas.

The songstress who has performed at very high profiled events said as Africans, we need to start looking within ourselves, pulling on our own unique strengths, whilst recognizing and learning from our own mistakes.

“Without growth, individuals and country, Africa as a whole will become stagnant; measures need to be put in place to help make Africa independent and successful,” she said.

With an impressive turnout at the TEDxAccra 2015, patrons did not only gain words of wisdom and economic empowerment from the speakers, but also enjoyed spectacular performances from the Afro Maestro, an orchestral ensemble and Prosper Attivor popularly known as Minister Paolo, a sensational Ghanaian gospel singer, songwriter and a tailor.
